The Assam Government on 9 July 2024 announced important changes to the ADRE exam pattern for both Grade III and Grade IV positions. These changes are designed to make the recruitment process more thorough and effective.

The old ADRE exam pattern consists of only one written test, followed by skill test. Now the new ADRE pattern cosists of three stages.
Three Stages of the New ADRE Exam Pattern 2024
Starting in September 2024, the ADRE will be conducted in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Viva-Voce.
Let’s break down each stage:
1. ADRE Prelims
- This is the first stage of the exam
- It will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
- The Prelims are designed to screen candidates and select the most suitable ones for the next stage
- Only candidates who pass the Prelims will be eligible to take the Mains exam
2. ADRE Mains
- The Mains is the second stage of the ADRE
- This exam will be more comprehensive and detailed compared to the Prelims
- It will test candidate’s in-depth knowledge and understanding of various subjects relevant to the job
- Candidates who clear the Mains will move on to the final stage, the Viva-Voce
3. ADRE Interview
- The Viva-Voce is the final stage of the ADRE
- This stage involved a personal interview
- Candidates will be evaluated on their communication skill, personality and overall suitability for the job
- Successfully passing the Viva-Voce will make candidate eligible for the final selection
ADRE Exam Date 2024 Announced
The Assam CM on 9 July 2024 through twitter has announced that the Assam Direct Recruitment Exam for Grade 3 and Grade 4 government posts will be held in three stages. He added that the government plans to fill 35,000 vacancies across various departments transparently.
