Binod Brahma, popularly known as the “king of football” in Kokrajhar, was a renowned football icon from BTR, Assam, India. Born on 26 July 1924 in Khargrabari village to Late Khagendra Nath Brahma and Late Mwtheb Brahma, he played football both domestically and internationally.
Binod Brahma received a sports pension from Assam until he passed away on 28 April 2008.

Career Journey
Binod Brahma’s football journey began at Kokrajhar ME School before he joined Kokrajhar Union Sporting Club in 1939. In 1948, he founded his own team, Tribal Sporting Club and participated in Intern District Football Tournaments.
However, his skill became evident during a trip to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1949, where he gained fame for scoring numerous goals in Rangpur and received the Best Player award in Bagura of Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He continued to gain fame in Dhaka while playing for Bagura XI.
After returning to India, Brahma joined the Gauhati Town Club and became a member of the Assam Team for the Santosh Trophy.
Later, he renamed his club to Barhoongkha Sporting Club (Tribal Sporting Club), and actively participated in tournaments across Assam and Manipur.
Award
In 1978, Binod Brahma received a gold medal and Rs. 5,000 from the Fakuruddin Ali Ahmed Sports Foundation for his achievements in sports. The award was given by the President of India at that time, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy.
