Bir Chilangang Basumatary, born on 1 February 1959, in Bongshigaon village in Dotma Kokrajhar, was a key figure in the Bodoland movement seeking a separate state in India. He was the founder chairman of the now defunct Bodoland Liberation Tiger (BLT) and was instrumental in the fight for the creation of Bodoland.
