The Bodo Sahitya Sabha was established in 1952 in Basugaon under the leadership of Joy Bhadra Hagjer, encouraging the Bodo language, literature and heritage of the Bodo community. 73rd Bodo Literary Day Celebration
Every year on 16 November, Bodo Thunlai San is to be celebrated as a memorable day in every govt schools, colleges and institutions of BTR, in the remembrance of the Bodo heroes who sacrifice their lives for protecting the encouraging the Bodo language, literature and heritage of the Bodo community. The foundation day of Bodo Sahitya Sabha is listed as a local holiday in BTR only.
The 73rd Bodo Literary Day 2024 was celebrated in Delhi at the Bodoland Mohotsav, featuring a Mega Cultural Rally at the SAI Indira Gandhi Stadium, showcasing the vibrant culture of the Bodo community.
Local Holiday Declared on BTR Area
The BTR govt through the notification no. BTC/E-271/2004/99-A on 2nd Nov, declared local holiday on 16th Nov 2024 (Saturday) on account of the “Bodo Thunlai Shaan (Bodo Literary Day)” under BTR.
All educational institutions and govt offices of entrusted department of BTR shall remain closed on 16th Nov 2024.
All educational institutions under BTR are requested to observe the literary Day in their respective institutions/attend public functions to be held on the occasion of observance of Bodo Thunlai Shaan (Bodo Literary Day) on that day.
