The Bodoland People Front also known as BPF Party is a political party in Assam, India. It was established on 5 December 2005, The party is headquartered in Kokrajhar Town and previously was in ruling government in the autonomous region of Bodoland.

About BPF Party, Bodoland People Front
In 2003 Bodoland Peace Accord also known as the second peace accord was signed by Bodo Liberation Tiger Force and the Central and State Government. This led to the formation of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTR), an autonomous body under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
A political party BPF was formed in the year 2005 where Hagrama Mohilary was selected as President and Emanuel Mushahary as General secretary. The party was recognized as the largest regional party in Assam.
As per the BPF constitution, BPF shall bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution of India as established by law and to the principles of democracy, socialism and secularism as enshrined in the Indian Constitution, and also solemnly affirm our commitment to work for upholding the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.

BTC 2005 Election
In 2005 BTC election, The BPF party has won all the 40 seats as there were no competition.
BTC 2010 Election
BTC election is conducted among the 4 districts of Bodoland. The BTC election of 2010 was the second such election since the council’s formation in 2003. BPF, led by Hagrama Mohilary, dominated the election by winning 31 of the 40 seats.

Assam Election 2011
The 2011 Assam Legislative Assembly elections were held to elect 126 members. The Indian National Congress (INC) emerged as the dominant party, securing 78 seats, followed by the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) with 18 seats and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) with 10. The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) won 12 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed 5.

BTC Election 2015
The 2015 Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections in Assam were won by the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), marking their third consecutive term in power. Out of 40 seats, the BPF secured 20 seats.

Assam Election 2016
Leading up to the 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly election, BPF joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).The Bodoland People Front party was assigned 16 seats based on this agreement but again won only 12 seats. Despite securing the same number of seats, BPF had the best winning percentage and played a role in the government of Assam.

BTC Election 2020
The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections in 2020 were held in two phases on December 7 and 10, across 40 constituencies in Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The results, announced on December 12, 2020, led to significant political changes.
The BPF emerged as the single largest party, winning 17 out of 40 seats in the BTC. Despite being the largest party, BPF fell short of a majority.
After the election, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) formed a coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) to form the new BTC government. This coalition ended the BPF’s long-standing dominance in the region.

Assam Election 2021
In 2021, BPF left the NDA and joined the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) ahead of the Assam elections. The party was assigned 12 seats but ended up winning just four. Following this poor performance in the elections, BPF decided to announce its formal departure from the United Progressive Alliance.
