Former BSS President Taren Chandra Boro To Receive Ahmed Ali Banskandi State Award 2024

Former President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Shri Taren Chandra Boro, will be conferred with the ‘Ahmed Ali Banskandi’ State Award 2024. The award ceremony will take place on 20 June at Darrang College during Rabha Divas. Mr. Boro is being recognized for his contributions to Bodo literature and culture during his tenure.

The Ahmed Ali Banskandi award carries a citation, robes (anga bastra), a shawl (sarai) and Rs 1 lakh.

About Ahmed Ali Banskandi

The Ahmed Ali Banskandi Award was instituted by the Tarun Gogoi government to honor Ahmed Ali Badarpuri, also known as Ahmed Ali Banskandi and Ahmed Ali Assami.

Ahmed Ali Banskandi was a renowned Indian Islamic scholar, Sufi, freedom fighter, and educator. He served as the president of the Assam State Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind for 44 years and also served as the Amir-e-Shariat of Northeast India from 1990 until his death in 2000.
