Gaon Panchayat List Assam: Assam comprises 35 districts, and significant changes are occurring in its administrative structure. Assam currently has a total number of 2,197 Gaon Panchayats. Still, this number will soon decrease to 2,193 following the delimitation process announced at the cabinet meeting on 8 Oct 2024.
The delimitation will cover all the districts in the state except the six scheduled districts: Bodoland Territorial Council, Dima Hasao Autonomous District Council, and Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council.
Bodoland Territorial Council and Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council have Village Council Development Committees (VCDC) instead of Gaon Panchayats.
