History of Bodo Literature: The Bodo people are part of the greater Bodo-Kachari family of ethnolinguistic groups in the Assam state of India. The Bodo tribe can be found mainly in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

First Bodo Book
The first book in the Bodo language was ‘Boroni Fisa O Ayen,’ edited by Ganga Charan Kachari and Norpati Kachari. It was published by Harichandra Kachari and Madharam Kachari in 1915.
First Bodo Megazine
In the history of Bodo literature, the first magazine in the Bodo language was ‘Bibar,’ edited by Satish Chandra Basumatary. It was published by the Bodo Students’ Union called “Bodo Satro Sonmilan” in 1924.
First Bodo Poetry
The first Bodo poetry book ‘Bathou Naam Bwikhaguni Gidu,’ written by Prasanalal Boro Khakhlary was published in 1919-20.

The first Bodo novel ‘Jujaini Or,’ written by Chittaranjan Muchahary was published in 1962.
First Bodo Short Story
The first Bodo short story “Abari,” written by Ishan Muchahary was published in Hathorkhi Hala in 1940.

The first Bodo short story book ‘Phwimal Mijing’ was published by Chittaranjan Muchaharay in 1970. This book is a collection of three short stories:

First Bodo Drama
The first Bodo drama “Nalabuha” was written by Satish Chandra Basumatary in 1919. This play was performed during the first ‘Bodo Chatra Sanmilan’ event held in Kokrajhar in 1920.
