1. Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma

Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma- Famous Bodo Personalities

Bodofa UN Brahma (31 Mar 1956 – 01 May 1990), popularly known as the ‘Father of the Bodos’, was a Social Activist from the Bodo community.

He led the peaceful Bodoland Movement with the goal of establishing a new state named ‘Bodoland’ within Assam. His contributions greatly impacted the All Bodo Student Union (ABSU).

2. Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma

Kalicharan Brahma

Kalicharan Brahma (18 Apr 1860 – 08 May 1938), popularly known as Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, was a 20th-century social and religious reformer of Bodo society. He was initially Kalicharan Mech. Kalicharan’s birth anniversary is now approved as a restricted holiday in Assam.

3. Kanakeswar Narzary

Kanakeswar Narzary

Kanakeswar Narzary (2 Jan 1943 – 12 Oct 2003), was the founder and General Secretary of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU). Kanakeswar Narzary was honored with the “Jawaharlal Nehru Lifetime Achievement Award” in 1999, New Delhi.

4. Sujit Narzary

Sujit Narzary (08 Jan 1972 – 12 June 1987), the first Martyr of the Bodoland movement, lost his life during the protest led by Bodofa Upendranath Brahma (1956-1990).

5. Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma

Nileswar Brahma

Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma (11 Feb 1927 – 01 Jan 1986), was a singer, poet, songwriter, and social worker within the Bodo community.

He became the first person from Bodo community to record songs on a gramophone in Kolkata in 1952. He died on 1 January 1986, due to high blood pressure.

6. Bineswar Brahma

Bineswar Brahma

Bineswar Brahma (28 Feb 1948 – 19 Aug 2000), also known as Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, was the president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and also served as the Deputy General Manager of the Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) for the northern region.

7. Bir Chilagang Basumatary

Bir Chilagang Basumatary (1 Feb 1959 – 28 June 1997), was the founder chairman of the now defunct Bodoland Liberation Tiger (BLT) and was instrumental in the fight for the creation of Bodoland.

8. Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary

Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary

Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary (Mar 1960 – 30 July 1996), was the President of the ABSU (All Bodo Students Union) from 1995 to 1996.
