The Assam Government launched the Assam Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme in 2020. This scheme aims to provide a scooter to the students of Assam who achieved a first division in the Higher Secondary Examination.
Hon’ble Finance Minister, in the budget speech 2023-24, announced providing Scooters to Girls securing 60% or more marks and boys securing 75% or more marks in the Class 12 examination in Higher Secondary Examination 2023 as per the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award under Pragyan Bharati Scheme. The Govt. of Assam in Higher Education Department decided to continue the Scheme for 2024-25.
In Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award 2024, 48,673 scooters will be distributed under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme.
Furthermore, the female students are also eligible for the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme, and Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Assam Pragyan Bharati Scooter Scheme 2024, the applicants must meet the following list:
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam State.
- Applicant must have secured 1st division in Class 12th.
- Applicant must be enrolled in a government school in Assam.
- Female students must secure 60% or above, while male students must secure 75% or above in the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by AHSEC
- The Dr Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award beneficiaries under the Pragyan Bharati scheme shall not be eligible for the Nijut Moina Scheme.

Distribution Process of the Scooty
The distribution process of the Dr Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award under he Pragyan Bharati scheme is provided below
- The list o the students will be collected from the Assam Higher Education Council.
- The list of beneficiaries will be uploaded to here
- The Director of Higher Education will notify a list of Consignee Principals to ensure the smooth distribution of scooter to eligible beneficiaries.
- The eligible students will collect appreciation certificates from the concerned Consignee Principal and submit them to the allotted dealer.
- The government will provide the amount for scooter Registration and Insurance to the consignee principals. After properly verifying the beneficiary details, the consignee principals will release the money to the concerned dealer.
- The students not need to pay any amount to the dealer for the cost.
- The students will collect the scooter from the dealer concerned.
- In case of a student’s death the legal guardian may or may not choose to collect the scooter.
