Good news for the BTR and Assam people, the BTR got the 3rd National Park and Assam got its 8th National Park. Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park is the New National Park in Assam that was declared on 15 Aug 2024 by the honourable CM of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma.

The Assam new national park – Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park falls under the Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of BTR, Assam. It covers an area of 321.90 sq.km.

Who is Sikhna Jwhwlao?

The new National Park of BTR Assam is named after the Bodo legend Sikhna Jwhwlao who is also popularly known as Jaolia Dewan, who fought against British in the Anglo-Bhutan war in 1865.
