Sujit Narzary, born on 8 January 1972 became the first Martyr of the Bodoland movement. He was 15 years and 5 months old when he lost his life on 12 June 1987. Sujit was killed during a protest led by Bodofa Upendranath Brahma, targeted by anti-tribal Assamese at Tihu Chowk, Nalbari. He was returning to Kokrajhar from a mass gathering at Judges Field in Guwahati, where supporters were demanding a separate Bodoland state. The death anniversary of Sujit Narzary is observed as Bodoland Martyrs Day.

Martyr Sujit Narzary Memorial Auditorium
During the BTR Budget 2024 session held on 18 and 19 June at the BTCLA House, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar, it was announced that the BTR Government would iniate the construction of Martyr Sujit Narzary Memorial Auditorium at 40 locations, one in each MCLA constituency, with estimated cost of Rs. 1 crore each, totalling Rs. 40 crore for all locations.
